Gingivitis
Gingivitis is easy to miss. The symptoms are subtle, usually do not cause pain.
Most common symptoms include bad breath, plaque build up and bleeding when flossing.
Gingivitis treatment is undertaken by a series of "deep cleanings" to remove active bacteria, and stop disease progression in it's tracks.
Periodontitis
If gingivitis is left untreated, the bacteria multiplies and seeps below the gums, causing "pockets".
Pockets are areas of tissue damage where the gums begin to detach from the tooth, trap more bacteria, and expose the jaw bone to bacteria as well. Your tooth brush at home can not reach these areas to clean out the bacteria.
Treatment for gum disease includes "deep cleanings" and re-assessment, and in some cases, antibiotics or gingival surgery.
Advanced Periodontitis
In advanced cases, bone loss and tooth loss may occur.
We offer bone regeneration and tooth replacement treatments as well, however it is necessary to quell any active infection and control the bacteria and symptoms before undergoing such treatment.
